Two rows in the table categorize indices by comparison base: the first shows dynamics relative to the end of the previous month, while the second relates current prices to December of the previous year. Comparing these series helps determine monthly price growth rates and the cumulative effect of inflation on the consumer basket since the start of the calendar year. All values are in percentages, facilitating the assessment of price growth rates for any selected period

What is visible in these numbers

Observations are monthly; total periods 432. 462 out of 864 possible values are filled (53.5%). There are many gaps: a significant part of the positions were observed only in certain periods, and such series should be compared with caution

Such series are used to recalculate long-term contracts, adjust past years' revenue to current money, and check whether the selling price outpaces the general price growth

Data are updated monthly, covering the period from January 1991 to December 2026. This information is useful for economists, analysts, and anyone tracking inflationary processes in the Russian food market. Rosstat publishes indices for each product group, ensuring calculation accuracy and enabling long-term expenditure planning based on official statistics

Table notes: June 2026 as % of December 2025. Please note that in January 1998 a redenomination was carried out, resulting in a 1000-fold reduction in the price scale. (Excluding statistical information for the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Luhansk People’s Republic, the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.)
