Annual inflation is calculated based on the consumer price index: December compared to December of the previous year. Rosstat's series starts in 1991 and is updated every month, so the figure for the current year is cumulative and will increase until December.

What is the current inflation rate in Russia?
The latest value in the table above. Until the year ends, this is a cumulative figure from January, not the final annual result: the indicator is calculated as an accumulated total to December of the previous year.
Why is official inflation lower than what receipts suggest?
The index is calculated based on a basket of hundreds of goods and services with weights reflecting the spending structure of the entire population. Each individual's basket is unique, and if it is dominated by items that rise in price faster than the average, the perception may differ from the official figure.
How does inflation differ from the consumer price index?
They are the same thing expressed differently. Rosstat publishes the index: 107.4 means prices rose by 7.4 percent. Inflation is the index minus one hundred.
