Statistics on induced abortions in Russia cover the period from 2010 to 2022. Indicators are grouped into series based on calculation method: absolute number in thousands, rate per 1,000 women aged 15–49, and rate per 100 births. These formats allow for assessing the scale of the phenomenon in absolute terms, comparing abortion rates with the population of women of reproductive age, and comparing indicators with the total number of births in the country

How to read this table
Three different series presented in the table allow for comparison between indicators. The first series shows the annual number of induced abortions in thousands, with 1,186.1 thousand cases recorded in 2010 and 503.8 thousand in 2022. The remaining rows provide relative rates, which help adjust the data for changes in population size and overall fertility rates, providing a more accurate view of the demographic situation in any given year
What is visible in these numbers
The largest value belongs to “thousands” — 504 abortions; the smallest is “per 100 births — per 1,000 women aged 15 – 49” at 6.7 abortions. The gap between them is 75.2-fold.
