From 2010 to 2023, Russia recorded the total length of operational tracks and the level of railway electrification. Rows distinguish between total track length in thousands of kilometers, the presence of electrified sections, and railway network density per unit area. This data allows for an assessment of the scale of transport infrastructure and its level of technical equipment at the end of each year

How to read this table

Differences between rows help clarify the network structure: some tracks operate under electric traction, while others use diesel traction. Comparing total length with track density per 10 thousand square kilometers of territory shows how evenly the railway network is developed across the country. Data is presented annually and covers a period of fourteen years

What is visible in these numbers

The largest value belongs to “Рабочий парк груженых железнодорожных вагонов (в среднем в сутки), тыс. шт” — 470 at year-end; the smallest is “пассажиров, млн пассажиро-км” at 1.6 at year-end. The gap between them is 294-fold.
