Estimation of population size in places of traditional residence of indigenous small-numbered peoples
The population residing in the traditional areas of indigenous small-numbered peoples is presented by all federal subjects of Russia and their municipal districts. The table shows two columns: total population and rural residents, providing an overview of settlement patterns and population structure at the time of data collection. Data is collected for each municipal district where representatives of indigenous small-numbered peoples officially reside, including the most remote territories of the Far North, Siberia, and the Far East

Rosstat estimates the population in the traditional areas of indigenous small-numbered peoples on a regular basis, updating the data as new information is received from municipalities. The information is useful for demographers, ethnologists, researchers of traditional livelihoods and cultures, and government authorities when developing regional socio-economic development programs. Furthermore, the data is useful for monitoring the rights of indigenous small-numbered peoples and planning support for their communities
How it is calculated
The age composition of the population determines how many years the demand for children's goods in the region will persist and when the demand for medical services for the elderly will begin to grow
