Differences between rows allow for an assessment of the composition of the population held in places of deprivation of liberty. By comparing the total number of persons with data on adult colonies and general regime colonies, one can understand what proportion of the total is comprised by specific categories of inmates. This information helps to visualize the scale of the penal system broken down by type of correctional institution

What is visible in these numbers
