Pig population at year-end: data by Russia and regions
The number of pigs in Russian farms at the end of 2020 and 2021 is reflected in this table. It contains 93 rows covering the Russian Federation as a whole, all federal districts, and individual regions, including the Bryansk Region. Comparing these two years allows for an assessment of changes in animal numbers by specific region and the country as a whole, based on official Rosstat agricultural bulletins

How to read this table
The table rows are organized geographically, starting with the total for the Russian Federation and ending with data for individual regions and federal districts. It is easy to compare the population size in a specific region for 2020 and 2021. By comparing adjacent columns, one can see the difference in the number of animals at the end of each reporting period, helping to assess the scale of pig farming in different parts of the country
What is visible in these numbers
Top five values: RUSSIAN FEDERATION — total (26 193), RUSSIAN FEDERATION — agricultural organizations (24 005), CENTRAL FEDERAL DISTRICT — total (13 800), CENTRAL FEDERAL DISTRICT — agricultural organizations (13 546), Belgorod Region — total (4 554). The gap between the highest and lowest values is 109 594 times. The top five account for 86.8% of the total across all items — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top
Observations are annual and cover 2 periods. Cells with numbers: 50 out of 50 (100%) — missing values are virtually absent
The same indicator for other periods
These series cannot be stitched together Over the common period 2021 values diverge — Rosstat recalculated the indicator using a revised methodology. They cannot be combined into a single chart: a break would appear at the junction, which did not actually occur
