Sown area of winter crops for grain in agricultural organizations
The indicator reflects the volume of winter grain crops sown in all types of agricultural organizations by constituent entity of the Russian Federation. Includes wheat, rye, and triticale. Figures are recorded in the autumn of the year preceding the harvest season. For example, sowings in autumn 2025 determine the 2026 harvest. Data allow for assessment of the agricultural sector's preparation for the upcoming season

Set in numbers
Rosstat data for 2025–2026. Rows: 247, periods: 2. Table rows: Russian Federation — Wheat; Russian Federation — Rye; Russian Federation — Triticale; Russian Federation — Barley; Central federal district — Wheat and others
Russian Federation — Wheat: indicator increased from 10,829 to 10,841 for 2025–2026 — by 0.11%. Out of 25 largest rows, 12 increased, 13 decreased
All table numbers are series: 247
How to read this table
Rows provide data for each region of the Russian Federation, enabling comparison of winter crop sown areas. Note that wheat is the primary crop, accounting for the majority of total winter sowings. Additionally, autumn weather conditions prior to sowing may have influenced actual areas. Not all regions practice winter sowing; therefore, the table includes only those entities where such sowing occurs
What is visible in these numbers
Five highest values: Russian Federation — Wheat (10,841), Central federal district — Wheat (2,612), Voronezh region — Wheat (521.2), Russian Federation — Barley (435.5), Russian Federation — Rye (337.9). Gap between highest and lowest — 25,159 times. The top five account for 95.3% of the total across all positions — distribution is heavily skewed toward the top
Observations are annual, the dataset contains 2 periods. Out of 50 possible values, 50 are filled (100%); data gaps are virtually absent

Period and application
Information covers the period from 2025 to 2026. Data are updated annually, typically in the autumn following the completion of the sowing campaign. Materials are useful for agricultural management bodies, producers, and analysts for yield forecasting and seasonal risk assessment
How it is calculated
This year’s harvest and livestock numbers determine next year’s procurement prices: processors require such rows earlier than supplier price lists
