Availability of tractors in agricultural organizations, 2019–2024
From 2019 to 2024, the density of machinery use per hectare of arable land in agriculture has changed. The dataset features three different indicators: the number of tractors per 1000 hectares of arable land, the area of arable land per tractor, and the number of plows per 100 tractors. Rows are categorized by the type of parameter measured, enabling an assessment of the technical equipment levels of farms over a six-year period
- Area of corresponding crops harvested per 1 sugar beet harvester (excluding top harvesters), ha
- Area of corresponding crops harvested per 1 combine harvester, ha — grain
- Arable land per 1 tractor, ha
- Number of harrows per 100 tractors, units
- Energy supply (power capacity per 100 ha of sown area), hp
- Area of corresponding crops harvested per 1 combine harvester, ha — flax
- Area of corresponding crops harvested per 1 potato harvester, ha

Set in numbers
Rosstat data for 2019–2024. Series: 22, periods: 6. By breakdown: Tractors per 1,000 ha of arable land, units; Arable land per 1 tractor, ha; Per 100 tractors, units — ploughs; Per 100 tractors, units — cultivators; Per 100 tractors, units — including combined harvesters… and others
Sown area (planting) of relevant crops per 1 combine harvester, ha…: the indicator decreased from 2,772 to 2,298 over 2019–2024 — by 17.1%. The highest value was 2,974 (2020), the lowest was 2,298 (2024). This is an average annual decline of 3.68%. Up to 2022, the change was −6.96%, after that −10.9%. Out of 22 major series, 11 increased and 11 decreased
All table numbers are series: 22
How to read this table
The row indicators describe different aspects of equipment availability: from the direct number of machines per unit area to the presence of implements such as plows. Comparing these series allows for an understanding of changes in land cultivation intensity and whether the existing tractor fleet is sufficient to service arable lands. The row values are not interchangeable, as they have different units of measurement and physical meanings
What is visible in these numbers
The five highest values: Sown area (planting) of relevant crops per 1 combine harvester (2,974), Sown area (planting) of relevant crops per 1 combine harvester (536.3), Sown area (planting) of relevant crops per 1 combine harvester (459.9), Arable land per 1 tractor, ha (372.4), Per 100 tractors, units — harrows (250.8). The gap between the highest and lowest values is 6,833 times. The top five account for 88.2% of the total across all items — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top
Observations are annual; there are 6 periods in total. 132 out of 132 possible values are filled (100%) — almost no empty cells remain

Period and application
Annual statistics cover the period from 2019 to 2024 and are published by Rosstat to analyze the state of the agricultural sector. Equipment availability data is relevant for agronomists, economists, and agricultural enterprise managers planning fleet renewal. The data is updated annually and reflects the actual use of tractors and combines in organizations
How it is calculated
This year's harvest and livestock determine next year's procurement prices: processors need such series earlier than the supplier's price list
