%

· dynamics annual · rows: 86 · periods: 9 · section: National set of SDG indicators

The recycling and neutralization rate of production and consumption waste reflects the effectiveness of the country's environmental policy. The indicator is measured as the share of recycled and treated volumes of the total waste generated. In 2017, the value for the Russian Federation was 52.5 percent, and by 2025 it changed to 24.00900666 percent. These figures allow for an assessment of the scale of the load on ecosystems and the actual results of waste management efforts

How to read this table

Comparing data between subjects of the Russian Federation helps identify regions with the most developed waste management infrastructure. The table rows provide data for the Belgorod and Bryansk regions and the country as a whole. To analyze trends, it is recommended to compare the indicators of a single subject over different years, as waste collection and recycling conditions vary significantly depending on the territory's industrial profile and the treatment technologies implemented

What is visible in these numbers

Five highest values: Lipetsk Region (2 196), Moscow Region (1 278), Vologda Region (160.8), Kursk Region (160.3), Kostroma Region (129.8). The gap between the highest and lowest is 81.4 times. The top five account for 70% of the total across all positions — the distribution is heavily skewed towards the top

Observations are annual and cover 9 periods. Cells with numbers 225 out of 225 (100%); there are practically no data gaps

Period and application

The coverage period of the presented statistics is from 2017 to 2025. Information is updated as new reporting data becomes available and is useful to environmental specialists, representatives of relevant agencies, and researchers studying environmental protection issues. Using this information helps to build forecasts for recycling volumes and evaluate the effectiveness of waste management programs at regional and federal levels
