Recovery and disposal of production and consumption waste, %

%

· dynamics annual · rows: 86 · periods: 7 · section: Publications on SDGs

Seven years of observations on the share of production and consumption waste that underwent recycling or treatment are collected in this 2017–2023 data series. The indicator is expressed as a percentage of the total volume of waste generated. Rows are broken down by each constituent entity of the country, including the total for the Russian Federation, allowing for an assessment of regional variations and changes in waste management efficiency at both local and national levels over the period

How to read this table

Rows listing each constituent entity of the Russian Federation separately facilitate comparisons across the country. By comparing these values, one can observe the differences in waste recycling and treatment approaches across various regions in any given year. The 2017–2023 data series allows for tracking which regions maintain stable indicators and where there is significant change in the share of recycled and treated volumes, reflecting regional environmental trends

What is visible in these numbers

Five highest values: Lipetsk Region (2 196), Moscow Region (1 278), Vologda Region (160.8), Kursk Region (160.3), Kostroma Region (129.8). The gap between the highest and lowest is 81.4 times. The top five account for 70.1% of the total across all positions — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top

Observations are annual, with 7 observation periods in the dataset. There are 175 values in the table out of 175 possible, which is 100% — missing data is virtually absent
