Forest conservation: forest stand loss and forest fires
From 2000 to 2023 various events affecting the forest fund occurred, and the statistics on dead plantations and fires are recorded here. Rows differ by indicator type: one gives area of dead plantations, another shows the share of fires within it, the third shows fire frequency. This allows seeing how the scale of forest loss and number of fires changed over twenty‑four years, with area measured in thousand hectares. Data are annual and cover the whole country

In the rows presented you can compare the total area of dead forests with the portion destroyed by fire. This helps understand what percentage of losses is due to fires and what is due to other causes. Information is structured by year in columns, allowing tracking of dynamics over two decades and assessing the intensity of forest fire impact on the country's ecosystem in different periods

Period and application
The statistics are compiled as part of Rosstat's yearbook and cover the period 2000–2023. Figures for dead plantations are given in thousand hectares, and the number of fires in thousand cases. These data are useful for ecologists, forest management officials and anyone monitoring natural resource conditions and planning forest protection measures
