Between 1989 and 2024, the number of cities and urban-type settlements in Russia changed unevenly, and this data allows for a detailed year-by-year tracking of this trend. Table rows are grouped by population size, from small settlements to large centers. The indicator covers all cities and urban-type settlements, enabling a comparison of their numbers across different years to see the overall settlement pattern
