Capacity of power plants in Russia in 2020–2023

· snapshot · rows: 5 · periods: 5 · section: Russian Statistical Yearbook (2024)

Two hundred seventy million kilowatts was the total capacity of all power plants in the country at the end of 2020, and by the end of 2023 this figure reached 272 million kilowatts. The table presents data for four years, categorized by facility type into thermal and hydroelectric power plants. Rows show the contribution of each generation type to the total power system, allowing for tracking the dynamics of changes in installed capacity in millions of kilowatts at the end of each reporting period

How to read this table

Plant types are divided by rows to facilitate comparison of the share of thermal and hydro generation in total installed capacity. Columns provide data for each year from 2020 to 2023 inclusive, allowing for an assessment of annual changes for each category. The information is grouped to highlight the total capacity of all power plants and specify indicators for key generation types used in Russian statistical reporting during this period

What is visible in these numbers

The table is 80% filled: Rosstat does not publish every cell, and the gaps are left as they are rather than interpolated.
