From 2019 to 2024, the share of small and medium entrepreneurship in the economy of each Russian region varied, and these indicators are recorded here in percent. The rows present both individual constituent entities and federal districts, allowing for comparison of the business contribution to the gross regional product at different levels. For example, the figure for the Central Federal District was 22.49182411 percent in 2019 and 25.8315977 percent in 2024, reflecting a shift in the structure of the regional economy over this period

How to read this table

Ninety-five rows cover all constituent entities of the Russian Federation and federal districts, allowing for comparison of results. One can compare both the dynamics within a single region over six years and the difference between neighboring regions or districts in a specific reporting year. These data reflect the contribution of the SME sector to regional production, helping to assess the scale of entrepreneurial activity in various parts of the country without accounting for external factors or management efficiency assessments

What is visible in these numbers

The five highest values are: Ivanovo Region (41.2), Voronezh Region (34.6), Smolensk Region (33.4), Kostroma Region (33), Orel Region (30.8). The gap between the highest and lowest is 17.2 times. The top five account for 26.3% of the total for all positions

Observations are annual and cover 6 periods. Cells with numbers: 150 out of 150 (100%) — almost no empty cells remain

Period and application

Statistics are updated annually and cover the period from 2019 to 2024, providing an opportunity to track long-term business development trends in the regions. The information will be useful to economists, analysts, and researchers studying the regional economy and the country's national accounts. Rosstat publishes this information to monitor economic activity at the local level, ensuring data comparability across all constituent entities of the Federation throughout the specified time period

How it is calculated

These accounts are used when it is necessary to estimate the size of one’s market from the top down: from the entire economy to the industry, rather than from one’s own sales upwards

Table notes: Data in the time series, starting from the results for 2019, have been recalculated taking into account changes in GRP volume for 2019–2023. Excluding statistical information for the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions
