The series begins in 1990 and shows the decline in the 1990s and the records of recent years; currently, the average Russian consumes more meat than during the Soviet era.

The indicator is calculated for the total population, including children and the elderly; therefore, the actual portion for an adult meat eater is higher than the average figure.
'In terms of meat' means that sausage, canned meat, and semi-finished products are converted to the weight of the meat contained within them.
