Consumption stays within a narrow corridor and reacts to weather as much as to the economy: a cold winter adds a noticeable volume to the year.

The 2020 drop reflects production shutdowns in spring, not a decrease in energy intensity.

The figure includes transmission losses: they account for about one‑tenth of the total volume.
