Undergraduate, specialist, and master's students in all universities, state and private, at the beginning of the academic year, in thousands of people. The year in the table is the start of the academic year: 2024 means 2024/25.
After the decline in the late 2010s, the number of students is growing again: from 4,044.2 thousand in the 2021/22 academic year to 4,431.7 thousand in 2024/25.
Growth is mainly in the part-time form: 181.5 thousand students in 2019/20 and 564.8 thousand in 2024/25, three times more. Correspondence students decreased over the same period.
