Distribution of the number of pensioners by sex and place of residence in Russia
as of 1 January
From 2017 to 2026, the number of people of retirement age in the country is recorded annually as of January 1. The rows categorize all retirees by women and men and provide a total for the country. This allows for comparing the share of each sex in the overall structure of the older generation and tracking changes over a ten-year period. Data is presented in thousands of people, the series is annual, and it covers the entire territory of the Russian Federation

How to read this table
Row differences allow for assessing the gender composition of the population receiving benefits. The number of women and men can be compared within the total to determine which sex predominates among the elderly. Comparing the total row with the sex groups shows the scale of the gender gap in the retiree structure as of the beginning of each year
What is visible in these numbers
“Всего пенсионеров” leads the table with 40,523 as of 1 January, “мужчины — из общего числа пенсионеров раньше вышедшие на пенсию” closes it with 5,364 as of 1 January. The gap between them is 7.6-fold.
