In 2023 the distribution of low‑income population by sex, age and place of residence depended on specific poverty indicators. Table rows separate people into men, women, children and also highlight urban versus rural residents. Columns show different sets of poverty conditions: from total low‑income to those who have all poverty characteristics simultaneously. Data are based on a sample observation of incomes and participation in social programmes

How to read this table

Comparing rows reveals the gap in living standards between urban and rural inhabitants and the share of vulnerable groups among men, women and children. Columns are built by progressively tightening criteria, helping to see what proportion of low‑income people suffer from a combination of factors rather than a single one. Indicators are expressed as percentages of the total, so their sums and ratios reflect the structure of poverty within the whole population

Period and application

2023 statistics reflect the situation of different population layers according to their demographic and territorial features. The information is relevant for analysing social inequality and assessing the effectiveness of support measures. Figures come from the sample observation and record the share of those living in households with a set of poverty characteristics
