Structure of internal R&D expenditures by sources of financing
In 2022, domestic R&D expenditures were distributed across various funding channels, from internal funds to foreign sources. Rows are categorized by country, allowing comparison of the share of resources from the budget or abroad in Russia, Austria, Belarus, and fifty other states. Total expenditures are taken as 100 percent, and the share of foreign sources in Russia is indicated in the corresponding column

How to read this table
Comparing indicators across different countries is facilitated by the percentage ratios within each row. Columns reflect the composition of expenditures, making it possible to determine the extent to which research centers depend on external funding or rely on internal reserves. Differences between countries are clearly visible when comparing the shares of specific sources within the R&D expenditure structure
What is visible in these numbers
The set includes the following indicators: Internal expenditure on research and experimental development; Government funds; Business enterprise sector funds; Other national sources; Foreign sources
Of 125 possible values, 125 (100%) are filled; there are practically no data gaps

Period and application
The statistical snapshot covers only 2022, so trends cannot be tracked here. The information includes Russia and fifty-two other countries, making it useful for international science policy analysis. Updates are released according to the Rosstat statistical yearbook publication schedule
How it is calculated
Rosstat notes: Or in the nearest year for which data are available
1) Или в ближайшем году, по которому имеются данные.
