How to read this table

The differences between the table rows allow for tracing the hierarchy from the national level down to specific federal districts and oblasts. Comparing these rows makes it possible to identify which territories account for the largest share of the total sown area in Russia. The information is structured to facilitate comparison between regional indicators and national values

What is visible in these numbers

Five largest values: Russian Federation — All categories of farms (55.1), Central Federal District — All categories of farms (8.6), Voronezh Oblast — All categories of farms (1.54), Northwestern Federal District — All categories of farms (1.37), Belgorod Oblast — All categories of farms (1.05). The gap between the largest and smallest is 459,352 times. The top five account for 91.6% of the total across all positions — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top

Annual observations, with 2 observation periods in the dataset. There are 50 values in the table out of 50 possible, which is 100%; data gaps are virtually absent

The same indicator for other periods

Period and application

The statistics cover two years and include 94 rows with territorial divisions. Data is updated as part of the publication of bulletins on the state of agriculture and can be used by agronomists, economists, and representatives of relevant agencies to analyze the structure of crop production

How it is calculated

This year's harvest and livestock numbers determine next year's procurement prices: processors require such series earlier than supplier price lists
