How to read this table

The rows in the table allow for comparison of the scale of livestock farming across different constituent entities and districts. National indicators can be compared with data from the Southern Federal District or a specific region to identify which breed groups are most prevalent in a given area. Columns labeled by breed help identify the specific sheep groups that holdings in different parts of the country specialize in

What is visible in these numbers

The dataset includes the following indicators: Coarse-wooled sheep; Semi-coarse-wooled sheep; Semi-fine-wooled sheep; Fine-wooled sheep; Karakul and pelt sheep

Out of 125 possible values, 104 are filled (83.2%). There are gaps, but they are isolated: for some positions, observations were not always conducted

Period and application

The data is presented as a one-time snapshot as of the end of 2025 and does not include year-on-year dynamics. The information is published in the electronic versions of Rosstat's agricultural status bulletins. The data is useful for agro-industrial complex specialists, veterinary control representatives, and anyone involved in livestock production planning

How it is calculated

Sown area data show what will be abundant and what will be scarce several months before it is reflected on the shelf
