Feed consumption per unit of output in agricultural organizations
In 2023 and 2024, agricultural organizations recorded the consumption of all types of feed per unit of output by region. The table contains 94 rows, including data for the Russian Federation, federal districts, and individual subjects, such as the Belgorod Region. The figures reflect the feed units required to produce one centner of livestock products, whether milk or livestock weight gain, allowing for an assessment of feeding efficiency across different regions
Chart of feed consumption per unit of output in agricultural organizations for 2023 and 2024
Set in numbers
Rosstat data for 2023–2024. Rows: 269, periods: 2. Table rows: Russian Federation — per 1 centner of milk; Russian Federation — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle; Russian Federation — per 1 centner of live weight gain of pigs; Central Federal District — per 1 centner of milk; Central Federal District — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle; and others
Kaluga Oblast — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle: the indicator increased from 17.8 to 18.2 for 2023–2024 — by 2.3%. Out of the 25 largest rows, 12 increased and 13 decreased
All table numbers are series: 269
How to read this table
Rows are categorized by territory, enabling a comparison of feed utilization efficiency across various subjects of the country. It is useful to compare both year-over-year indicators within a single region and cost differences between federal districts for a specific period. Data are presented with a breakdown by the Russian Federation, federal districts, and regions, helping to identify regional productivity characteristics in the livestock sector for the reporting period
What is visible in these numbers
Five highest values: Kaluga Oblast — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle (18.2), Bryansk Oblast — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle (14.6), Central Federal District — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle (13.8), Russian Federation — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle (12.9), Ivanovo Oblast — per 1 centner of live weight gain of cattle (12). The gap between the highest and lowest is 24 times. The top five account for 50.7% of the total across all positions — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top
Annual observations, 2 periods in the dataset. Out of 50 possible values, 50 (100%) are filled, meaning the table is almost completely filled
The same indicator for other periods

Period and application
Updates for 2023 and 2024 are provided as part of regular Rosstat bulletins on the state of agriculture. This material is useful for farmers, economists, and industry analysts to monitor livestock production efficiency. The presented figures allow for an assessment of production costs and an analysis of changes in the structure of feed consumption at the national and regional levels over the last two years
How it is calculated
This year’s harvest and livestock numbers determine next year’s procurement prices: processors need such rows earlier than the supplier’s price list
