Shift work in general education organisations
From the 2000/2001 to 2024/2025 academic year, student distribution by shift has changed depending on school capacity. The list presents four indicators: the number of people in the first shift in millions, their percentage share of all students, and the number of students attending the second and third shifts, also in millions. The statistics record the situation at the start of the academic year for schools providing primary, basic, and secondary general education

How to read this table
The table rows allow for a comparison of absolute values and relative shares. The number of children in the first shift can be compared to those in the second or third. This illustrates the portion of the school workload occurring in the afternoon and how the percentage distribution between shifts changes over twenty-four years. Data in millions of people allow for assessing the scale of the process nationwide

Data are published in the Russian Statistical Yearbook 2025. The information covers the period from the beginning of 2000 to the current academic year. These figures are useful for educators, education administrators, and sociologists analyzing the infrastructural load on educational organizations
