Within the year the salary jumps. In March it is higher than in February by almost 9 thousand: in the first quarter many companies pay annual bonuses. The most noticeable jump occurs in December. In December 2025 the average salary was 139,727 rubles, and in November 98,193, a difference of 42%.

Why the average for half a year is lower than for the whole 2025
For the whole of 2025 the average salary was 100,186 rubles, for the first half of 2025 it was 96,042. The second half is always higher than the first because of December. Therefore comparing 109,029 rubles for January–June 2026 with the annual figure for 2025 is incorrect: you need to compare the same months, as in the table above.
For scale, the first half of recent years:
| January–June | Average salary, rub. |
|---|---|
| 2022 | 61,853 |
| 2023 | 70,058 |
| 2024 | 83,435 |
| 2025 | 96,042 |
| 2026 | 109,029 |
Over four years the first‑half salary grew by 1.76 times. The whole series since 2000 is compiled in the summary "Average salary in Russia by year".
Accrued salary vs. take‑home pay: what’s the difference
Rosstat publishes accrued salary. It includes the base salary, bonuses, allowances, vacation pay, everything the employer accrued for the month. Income tax is deducted from this amount. For an annual income up to 2.4 million rubles the rate is 13%, and the average salary annualised (about 1.31 million) does not reach this threshold.
It works like this:
- average for January–June 2026: 109,029 rubles accrued, about 94,856 take‑home;
- June 2026: 114,743 accrued, about 99,826 take‑home.
If the employee receives a child tax credit, the take‑home amount will be slightly higher. Social security contributions are paid by the employer on top of the accrued amount and are not deducted from the salary.
How much of the growth was eaten by inflation
According to Rosstat, inflation over 12 months in the first half of 2026 was in the range of 5.3–6.0% (month‑by‑month on the page "Inflation in 2026").
If you divide the salary growth by the price growth for the same period, you get the real increase:
| Month 2026 | Salary vs. previous year | Inflation over 12 months | Real growth, our calculation |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | +16.4% | 6.01% | +9.8% |
| March | +15.4% | 5.87% | +9.0% |
| May | +10.9% | 5.32% | +5.3% |
| June | +11.2% | 6.03% | +4.9% |
Wages still outpace prices, but the margin is shrinking. In January the real increase was almost 10%, in June about 5%. You can calculate how much the cost of living has risen between any two months in the inflation calculator.
