The presented employment data indicates the employment categories of the population in various countries. The rows list 59 countries, while the columns provide the year and the share of workers not classified by employment status. These figures allow for comparison of the proportion of employed persons in each country who do not fall into standard categories, such as employees or self-employed. The data is recent, covering most countries in recent years, and is updated with each new edition of the yearbook

How to read this table
Cross-country comparison is made possible by the breakdown by employment type. Each row represents an individual country, allowing for a comparison of labor market structures across different regions. It is possible to see in which countries the share of workers with an undefined status approaches zero, as in Vietnam, and where a significant portion of the working-age population is not classified using standard statistical methods
What is visible in these numbers

The data is compiled as part of an international statistical comparison and presented as a cross-section. The information is based on the latest available publications and covers a wide range of countries. This dataset is useful for economists and specialists studying global labor markets and labor law characteristics in different regions of the world

Notes from the source: Data are published based on the classification of status in employment in accordance with the type of authority (ICSE-18-A). 2024: independent workers – 7.2% (employers – 1.6%; own-account workers – 5.6%), dependent workers – 92.8% (dependent contractors – 0.4%; employees – 92.1%; contributing family…
