Structure of employment by age groups and employment status

In 2023, persons employed in their main job were categorized by age and status. The nine rows in the table divide all workers into independent and dependent workers, while the columns show the share of each age category of the total. Indicators are measured in percent, allowing for comparison of the share of elderly or young people who are self-employed versus those who are employees. Data are based on sample labor force surveys and provide a snapshot for the year 2023, without period-over-period dynamics

How to read this table
The rows in this dataset allow for comparing the share of independent and dependent workers within each age group. Comparing the indicators reveals how the nature of employment changes with age: for example, what proportion of people aged 70 and older maintain employment status. This helps to understand how strongly age affects the form of employment relationships and the type of authority with which individuals enter the labor market
