Length of heating and steam networks in the Arctic

· dynamics annual · rows: 11 · periods: 5 · section: publications of official statistical information on socio-economic development

Kilometers of heating and steam networks in double-pipe terms on the land territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation are presented in this series for 2021–2025. Rows detail the indicator by individual regions, including Murmansk Oblast and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, along with the total for the entire Arctic zone. The data allow for assessing infrastructure development in harsh climatic conditions and tracking changes in the total length of utilities over five years in each of the specified constituent entities

How to read this table

Comparisons can be made between individual regions as well as the dynamics of the entire Arctic zone for each year. Rows are divided by territory, allowing for the assessment of each region's contribution to the total network length. For example, values for Murmansk Oblast and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug show local changes in heat supply, while the total row for the land territories of the Arctic zone reflects the aggregate scale of engineering utilities in the country's northern latitudes

What is visible in these numbers

“For reference: Russian Federation” leads the table with 168,031, “Nenets Autonomous Okrug” closes it with 120. The gap between them is 1,401-fold.

Period and application

The statistics cover the period from 2021 to 2025 and are updated by Rosstat as socio-economic development reports for the regions are compiled. The information is useful for energy specialists, northern territory infrastructure researchers, and government officials involved in the modernization of housing and communal services in the Arctic. Data are presented in kilometers in double-pipe terms, which is the standard method for assessing the capacity of heat supply systems for accurate accounting of infrastructure assets
