From 2010 to 2017, the number of doctoral graduates varied from 1259 to 65 per year. The rows present the national total and data for specific fields of study, such as physical and mathematical sciences or chemical sciences. This shows the composition of graduates and identifies which fields were most prominent during this period. The statistics reflect the number of individuals who completed their studies in the reporting year

The table rows are divided into the total for all fields and indicators for specific scientific groups. Comparing these shows the share of individual disciplines within the total volume of highly qualified personnel training. All data are presented in units, i.e., the number of people who successfully completed their studies in each reporting year by selected fields
What is visible in these numbers
The five highest values: Total — Graduates from doctoral programmes (1,386), Engineering — Graduates from doctoral programmes (409), Total — of which with thesis defence (394), Economics — Graduates from doctoral programmes (169), Education — Graduates from doctoral programmes (129). The gap between the highest and lowest is by a factor of 231. The top five account for 74% of the total across all items — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top
