The share of juvenile offenses and cases involving their complicity in the total number of crimes under preliminary investigation from 2008 to 2021 is shown. The rows are categorized by offense type: showing the total share as well as the share of murders, attempted murders, and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. This allows for an assessment of which specific crime categories are most frequently committed by adolescents compared to the overall crime rate nationwide

How to read this table

Differences between the rows allow for tracking the crime structure among youth. While the first row provides the overall figure, subsequent rows show the share of the most serious offenses, such as murder or bodily harm. By comparing these indicators, one can understand how the share of serious crimes committed by juveniles differs from their share in the total number of investigated cases

What is visible in these numbers

Highest values: extortion (26.5), illegal seizure of a car or other… (25.2), robbery (18.2). The gap between the highest and lowest is 25.6 times. The top three account for 46.2% of the total for all categories

Observations are annual, with 14 observation periods in the dataset. There are 196 values in the table out of 196 possible, which is 100% — missing values are virtually absent

Period and application

The statistics cover fourteen years and are published annually. Data for the Russian Federation for 2008–2021 will be useful for criminologists, law enforcement officers, child social protection specialists, and those involved in youth safety issues
