426,433 people reported language proficiency in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug according to the 2020 All‑Russian population census. The list includes languages spoken by residents and a separate group that uses them in everyday life. Census results on ethnic composition and languages are used for planning the school teaching of native languages, assessing the need for translation of public services, and in ethnographic research
