The differences between rows allow for a comparison of total ethnic population with actual language proficiency levels. By comparing indicators for each nationality, the share of native language speakers relative to those who identified Russian as their mother tongue can be observed. This helps assess the preservation of linguistic identity among specific population groups in the okrug

The table is 19% filled: Rosstat does not publish every cell, and the gaps are left as they are rather than interpolated.
