Population of indigenous small-numbered peoples of Stavropol Territory by native language
The 2020 Census results show the number of representatives of indigenous small-numbered peoples living in Stavropol Krai and the languages they speak. Table rows distinguish between the total population of each nationality, the number of people who specified their native language, and those who identified Russian as their native language. This allows for an assessment of native language proficiency among the region's various ethnic groups. The data covers 27 categories, from Abazins to Yukaghirs

How to read this table
Ethnic composition and language status can be compared using rows that specify different language proficiency indicators. One row shows the total population of a people, another the number of native speakers, and a third the share of those using Russian. This approach clearly demonstrates the proportion of small-numbered peoples who retain traditional languages versus those who have switched to Russian. Columns are organized by the names of the peoples included in the census sample
What is visible in these numbers
The table is 17% filled: Rosstat does not publish every cell, and the gaps are left as they are rather than interpolated.

Period and application
The information is based on the results of the 2020 All-Russian Population Census and published by Rosstat in the fifth volume of materials. The data is relevant for demographers, ethnographers, and specialists studying the region's linguistic environment. The data is presented as a one-time snapshot without year-on-year dynamics, recording the national composition at the time of the census
* Oтдельные респонденты указали принадлежность более чем к одному коренному малочисленному народу
