The total sown area was 2407 thousand hectares in 1990, and by 2024 this figure changed to 2147.671612 thousand hectares. In this table, Rosstat provides data on household plots for the period from 1990 to 2024. The rows categorize crops into total sown area, cereals and legumes, and separately highlight wheat, allowing for the tracking of land use structure in the private sector over thirty-five years

Different crop groups allow for the comparison of land use intensity in household plots by year. The rows provide data on both the total volume of crops and specific types of cereals, which helps to identify the specialization of households. Comparing the values across rows shows the significance of wheat within the total volume of cereal crops and how the area occupied by them has changed against the background of the total size of sown areas in household plots throughout the entire period presented

Five largest values: Total sown area (4,435), Potatoes (2,998), Grain and leguminous crops (587.8), Fodder crops (558), Vegetables (553). The gap between the highest and lowest is 170.8 times. The top five account for 82% of the total across all items — the distribution is heavily skewed toward the top

Period and application
Information on agricultural producers is updated regularly, ensuring the accuracy of data for 1990–2024. The statistics will be useful to agronomists, researchers of the agricultural sector, and anyone studying the dynamics of the development of personal subsidiary plots and gardening associations in Russia. The indicators are presented in thousand hectares, which makes it possible to assess the scale of land resource use by the population for growing various agricultural crops
How it is calculated
Source notes: Data for 2007–2017 are adjusted to reflect the results of the 2016 All-Russia Agricultural Census. Data exclude statistical information for the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Zaporozhye and Kherson regions
