These figures reflect the varying number of landline telephones and payphones per 100 inhabitants from 2011 to 2016. The dataset contains 85 rows, each corresponding to a specific region, highlighting differences in fixed-line communication development across the country. Indicators were calculated by the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of Russia at the end of each year and are presented per 100 people to enable comparison of connectivity levels between constituent entities

How to read this table

Regional comparison is possible because all rows follow a unified calculation methodology. In Belgorod Oblast, for example, the indicator changed from 27.68 in 2011 to 22.1 in 2016. Data for Bryansk or Vladimir Oblasts can be compared with any other region in the list to understand differences in telephone network penetration. Each row shows the dynamics of a specific region for the 2011–2016 period, excluding the influence of total population on the final density value

What is visible in these numbers

The five highest values: Moscow (58.8), Komi Republic (38.2), Republic of Karelia (35.6), Kaliningrad Region (34.9), Yaroslavl Region (34.9). The top five account for 26% of the total across all positions

Observations are annual and cover 6 periods. Cells with numbers: 150 out of 150 (100%) — almost no empty cells remain
